Egg Donor Safety Policy
A.EggBank Egg Donor Safety Policy outlines A.EggBank’s professional and ethical guidelines for the egg donation process. Since donors receive compensation for their participation, this could lead to pressures that affect their ability to make clear, informed decisions concerning the potential medical and emotional risks involved in the procedure.
All egg donors will be informed about potential legal, medical, and emotional issues involved in oocyte donation:
Core Principles
"First, do no harm". Paramount is the safety and well-being of donors. A.EggBank bears the duty of ensuring no harm is inflicted during the donor`s egg donation process.
- All A.EggBank egg donors are voluntary donors.
- A.EggBank shall provide prospective and current egg donors with sufficient, accessible, and up-to-date information to allow them to make informed decisions.
- All relevant consents must be obtained before any activity is undertaken.
Eligibility Criteria

- All egg donors should have at least one healthy child.
- Donors must undergo a physical exam and psychological evaluation prior to donation.
- Donors must not consume alcohol, smoke, or use psychotropic or narcotic substances. They will be informed that screening for such substances is mandatory.
Compensation and Consent
- Donors can receive compensation to reasonably cover financial losses incurred through donation.
- Compensation is provided immediately upon successful completion of egg retrieval.
- Donors can choose to be identifiable or anonymous, though they are encouraged to remain identifiable for the benefit of the resulting children.
- Donors will be informed that they relinquish dispositional control over oocytes after retrieval and have no legal rights or parental duties toward any resulting child.
Medical Screening and Support
- Donors will be screened for infectious diseases and other health risk factors and will receive results and appropriate medical referrals if needed.
- Genetic disease screening will also be conducted, with referrals for genetic counseling if required.
- Accurate records will be maintained for potential future communication with offspring.
